Oahu Wedding Videography

Videos are more than just moments. Videos should bring you back to the moments and make you feel something over again. I’m thankful for the opportunity to take my experiences as an award winning filmmaker to one of the most important days of your life.

In this article, I’m going to talk through some of the questions I ask when planning out a wedding video. There are many different styles so it is important to have these conversations in the planning stage of your Hawaii wedding so that you can relax knowing that your Hawaii videographer knows your vision.

First thing is timeline. How will your day flow? We need to discuss your Hawaii wedding or elopement timeline for the day; so, that we can establish how your story will flow on video. Most of my wedding clients prefer a progression when it comes to video. We start with establishing the when, where, and details of the day at the introduction of your wedding video.

What do you want included or excluded from your video? This helps us detemine the amount of wedding or elopement coverage you prefer. Do you want a video starting from the getting ready or entrance of guests? Do you want all those feel good details like shoe lacing and spraying of perfume? Or do you prefer a more laid back approach of just all the best moments of what happens cinematically and more?

How would you prefer vows? Do you want the vows in full? Shortened? As a separate video? Or just between the two of you as private? Vows can be interspersed and overplayed with moments or just viewed in the original moment, focused on the talking. There’s so much we can talk about when it comes to your preferences for wedding cinematography.

Is there anyone that should have a speaking part in the video beyond bride and groom? If you have any special wedding video feature requests, I’m here for you! I’d love to hear what you want to remember most and who should most definitely show up within the video. Typically, any bridesmaids, maid of honor, and groomsmen are a great place to start.

In our planning meeting for your Hawaii Wedding Video, We will go over a checklist of what often gets included and you can specify any preferences or changes. I believe that you should take a look at wedding videos to get a feel for what you like and don’t like. No two videographers are the same. We all have different aesthetics and wedding video styles. I encourage you to think how you would like your video to be captured and be able to look at your wedding videographer with trust knowing that you like the videography style. I’d say that my style is more of a documentary mixed with aesthetic cinema feel that takes you back to the moments and makes you feel something when you look back on the moments.

Here’s a few example checklist items to start thinking about for your Hawaii Wedding Video:

Groom waiting at the alter

Bridal Entrance down the aisle

Vow Recital
